Residing in the mountains of East Tennessee, Ben lives on a large horse and cattle farm with his wife and two sons. He is a proud U.S. Navy Veteran serving from 2003-2008. Ben was raised around firearms on his family’s farm, but it wasn’t until later in life that his passion for firearms and competitive shooting would grow.
In 2016, Ben was introduced to the JP brand while dabbling in local 3-Gun competitions. He noticed that whether or not competitors were shooting JP Rifles or another brand, one thing was for sure, they all had JP components in them! While Ben found 3-Gun competitions to be a lot of fun, he knew he wanted to get into long-range shooting and the Precision Rifle Series.
In late 2016 to early 2017, Ben purchased his first JP Rifle, a 20” .223 SCR-11™. Shortly after receiving the rifle, Ben signed up for an intro to long-range class that was followed by a 3-Gun Nation Long Range match on the same weekend. He has been hooked ever since.
While 3GN Long Range is no longer a competition series, Ben’s experience in 3GN led him into the Precision Rifle Series Gas Gun Series in 2018. Ben would use a JP LRP-07 in 6.5 Creedmoor to finish 6th overall in his first official competition season. Unfortunately, this would be the last year for the Gas Gun series.
In 2019, looking for a new series to compete in, Ben found himself in the PRS Southeast Regional Series. He started the season using his LRP-07™ earning several top-10 finishes early in the season. Later that year, Ben would receive the new JP APAC™ Chassis and make the move over to a bolt-action rifle. Ben really grew as a shooter throughout this season and ended up finishing 4th in the Southeast for the year. His performance in the Southeast Regional Series earned him an invite to the Precision Rifle Pro Series National Finale Match.
After a great 2020 season, you will continue to see Ben compete in PRS National and Regional level matches as well as at more team-style matches in the future. You may even catch him at some .22LR matches in 2021.
