Growing up, I've always been around firearms, but looking back, I was about seven years old when I first began shooting. I have always enjoyed being outdoors, hunting and target shooting with family and friends. The Boulder Rifle Club in Boulder, Colorado, was where I was first introduced to competitive shooting at the end of 2006.
I started shooting competitively with a 4" Colt Python, before falling in love with a Browning High Power, of which I am shooting currently. A year after joining the Boulder Rifle Club, I received an award for the Most Advanced Lady Shooter of 2007 in the Defensive Pistol League. I attend local matches, and have enjoyed the opportunity to watch many good shooters. Through the shooting sports, I've met many wonderful people, and a select few have played the role of not only a friend, but a mentor as well.
Through several of these friends, I heard about JP Rocky Mountain 3-Gun in Raton, New Mexico. I shot my first JP RM3G match in 2010, and placed third in the junior division in my last year as a junior shooter, and I won a JP Enterprises AR-15 lower receiver. The match directors (JJ and Denise Johnson) do an outstanding job with the JP RM3G match, and are great people to be around. JP Enterprises, and many other sponsors, have done a tremendous job of sponsoring with this match. John Paul, himself, helped me with getting a JP-15 rifle and scope, and my rifle skills have already improved by having a quality rifle to call my own. I am currently competing with that rifle at 3-Gun matches.
I have two wonderful younger sisters who are currently shooting in the junior division, and enjoy 3-Gun matches. I see lots of shooting potential with my sisters, and it has become a challenge to keep up with them during matches. Currently, I am pursuing a career in firefighting, and am considering the idea of doing so through the Air Force. I am a proud member of both the NRA and the Boulder Rifle Club, and a strong supporter of this nation’s constitution, and I would describe my political views as "extremely rightwing". I am proud to call myself an American, and I am eternally grateful to all of the men and women who are willing to make such great sacrifices for this country, and it is just another reminder that this is the land of the free because of the brave.
