Bio

I grew up on my grandparents cattle ranch near Weed New Mexico. Both my stepfather and grandfather were US Army marksmen. They took pride in their ability to make every shot count. Even today I have fond memories of loading guns, ammo, and targets up in the pickup truck to go shooting. Hunting also became a big part of childhood years.

Shooting Career

My amateur shooting career started at the Four Corners Trap Club in Farmington New Mexico in 1991. It was there where I learned how to shoot trap and sporting clays. It was great fun which lasted approximately six years. During that time I either placed in or won many local shotgun tournaments.

In 1998 a good friend introduced me to USPSA practical shooting. Over time I experimented with single stack and open guns however found my niche in limited division. In 2003, I met John Paul at my first big match - USPSA 3 Gun Nationals. Holy moly...wow! Talk about getting hooked on a sport. In my opinion this was the next best thing to sliced bread. I remember John just laughing and smiling telling me to be patient and work on my accuracy. Yeppers, the speed bug had bitten me and I couldn't get enough. Since that time I have been rocking JP Rifles in 3Gun matches from the east coast to the west coast at both local and national level events. Many trophies and reminders of good finishes are reserved for the gun room. Almost every weekend you will find me practicing, training, or competing.

Professional Career

I have been working in natural resource management and wildfire suppression for the Federal Government since 1984. My career began in New Mexico, then it lead me to Washington DC, Wyoming, back to DC, and now California. Am currently working for the Bureau of Land Management - California Desert District as the Program Lead for remediation/clean-up of abandoned hardrock mines on public lands.
